Elizabeth M. Thomas is a Senior Family Law Attorney at Brighter Day Law. Elizabeth is an experienced litigator with over 16 years of experience as an attorney in the State of Colorado.
Elizabeth is a native Texan but grew up mostly in N. Illinois during her childhood. Elizabeth was always active during her youth, participating in theatre, voice, softball, synchronized swimming and journalism. As a military wife, she has had the opportunity to live all over the United States. Elizabeth attended College of Charleston in South Carolina, graduating with a Bachelors in History in 1995. In 2000, Elizabeth earned her Masters of Public Administration from Troy University. After making the decision to attend law school in 2002, Elizabeth earned her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 2005 and began practicing law in Colorado in 2007.
As a military wife, Elizabeth has navigated multiple moves and raised her children while supporting her Active Duty Husband through multiple deployments. Their family relocated to Colorado Springs after her graduation from law school, so Elizabeth started opened her own law firm, successfully running her solo practice law firm until 2014. Elizabeth closed her law firm and took a break practicing law, after her husband’s death in 2014. In 2017, Elizabeth returned to Colorado Springs worked for two other local firms, primarily focused on family law, before joining Brighter Day Law.
Elizabeth has been an attorney and litigator in bankruptcy, entertainment, corporate, probate and small business law. Additionally, she has over 20 years’ experience in managing limited liability corporations, nonprofit corporations and in marketing and public relations. Elizabeth has handled complex litigation but prides herself in finding a resolution to complicated issues through negotiation and common-sense solutions. While not afraid to take a case to Court, she understands that working with families to find a solution outside of Court is often the best outcome for individual and families.
As a family law attorney, Elizabeth is compassionate and understanding, having had personal experience through her own divorce, being a single mom and raising children, and the unique prospective of the challenges facing military families. Elizabeth brings her experience and mentorship to Brighter Day Law, with her focus on helping families reimagine a new beginning with perseverance and hope for the future after navigating their case to reasonable solution.
Outside the firm, Elizabeth is a proud mother of her adult children and grandchildren. Elizabeth spends most of her free time visiting with her children who are located locally in Colorado and across the United States. Elizabeth loves music, visiting historical places and the just being outdoors, especially camping in the Rocky Mountains. She is an avid sports fan and can be seen supporting her Blackhawks, Cubs and Bears as much as possible! Elizabeth loves animals and is spends a lot of her free time with her favorite “fur children” and doing many DIY projects. As a Gold Star Widow Elizabeth still works closely with service members, military families, other military widows and veterans.
